How Sage protects your personal information

Sage Telecom (“Sage”) is committed to protecting your privacy. Our privacy policy is designed to inform you about the information we collect, how we use it, and your options with regard to that collection and use. This Privacy Policy discloses the privacy practices governing the use of information submitted when you speak with Sage Customer Service or visit our website.

When you speak with Sage’s Customer Service, perform an online transaction on our website, or use our Interactive Voice Response system your records will be accessed to better help you with your inquiry. Your interaction will be monitored or recorded. This monitoring or recording helps us train employees and provide high-quality service.

The Information We Collect

When you place an order for Sage services, we collect information from you. The information that we collect may include your name, address and the telephone numbers and email address where you may be reached, as well as Social Security Number, Date of Birth, or payment information necessary to establish credit and billing. Information such as call detail records, usage, traffic data, service features to which you subscribe, and other such information may be used to initiate, render, bill and maintain service, or to help you with service-related issues or questions. We also use this information to establish a record of the services you purchase from us. We may use your address, email address, and phone number to contact you about services that we offer, subject to any restrictions required by law. This information may also be used to help us improve our services, provide and offer promotions and service offerings; and protect our network, service, and users from fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful uses.

When you access, browse, or otherwise use the Sage Telecom ("Sage,” “We,” “Us,” or “Our”) website located at http://www.sagetelecom.net ("Site") either manually or via an automated device or program, to the extent permitted hereunder, you shall be considered a "User" under this Sage Telecom Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”). All Users are bound by the terms of this Privacy Policy. Sage is committed to protecting the privacy of Our Users. This Privacy Policy discloses the privacy practices governing the use of information submitted to Sage through the Site.

Sage may collect personal information such as names, titles, addresses, telephone numbers, fax numbers, e-mail addresses, social security numbers, date of birth, and payment information (such as credit card numbers) from Users. For example, Sage may collect personal information submitted through online applications for service. By submitting personal information to the Site, the User acknowledges that he or she has read this Privacy Policy, understands it, agrees to its terms and authorizes Sage to collect, use and disclose personal information pursuant to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

Anonymous Browsing Information

You can browse our website without revealing personal information that can be used to identify you. Sage may collect non-personal information such as your Internet Protocol ("IP") address, the name of the domain you used to access the Internet, the Web site you came from and the site you visit next (see “How We Use Your Information” below). However, Sage does not associate any non-personal information with records containing any personal information submitted to Us, so you remain anonymous when you browse the Site.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file that your web browser places on your computer's hard drive. It functions as an identification card, recording your passwords, purchases and preferences. Most browsers are initially set to accept cookies. You can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie, giving you a chance to decide whether or not to accept it. While Sage may use cookies to track your visit to the Site and Our servers automatically log the IP address of your computer, this information does not identify you personally and you remain anonymous, even if you have previously submitted personal information to Sage through the Site.

Third parties whose websites are accessible through links on the Site may also use their own cookies when you link to their site or service. Sage does not control these third parties' use of cookies and cannot guarantee that they will uphold the same privacy standards as Sage. Sage expressly disclaims any and all liability related to the collection, use or disclosure of information by third parties. You should review the privacy policies of any third party sites that you visit through a link from the Sage Site to understand how they use cookies and the information they collect through cookies.

How We Use Your Information

Anonymous browsing information, including your IP address, may be used to gather broad demographic information. This information may be aggregated to measure the number of visits, average time spent, page views and other statistics about Users of the Site. We also may use this data to monitor Site performance and to make the Site easier and more convenient to use.

Sage uses personal information collected from Users, such as names, e-mail addresses and payment information for a number of purposes including:

  • To provide service(s) to Our Users;
  • To establish and maintain responsible commercial relations with Users and to communicate with Our Users in order to provide service. This includes, but is not limited to communications related to billing, collection, advertising, promotion and account verification;
  • To respond to Users’ questions and/or comments;
  • To understand User needs and preferences;
  • To provide promotional or other opportunities to Our Users;
  • To meet legal and regulatory requirements; and
  • To administer and manage Sage’s business operations, including personnel and employment matters;

Who We Share It With

Sage only will share information that We collect or receive regarding Our Users with third parties under the following circumstances.

If Sage has a User's consent to share personal information, We may do so.

Sage may utilize other companies and individuals to perform functions on Our behalf such as marketing, sending postal and electronic mail to Users, delivering services, performing credit checks and providing customer service. These third parties have access to Information needed to perform their functions, but may not use it for other purposes. We may also purchase demographic data from third-party providers that we use to better direct offers to you, and may obtain e-mail lists from third parties to provide those on the lists with information about Sage’s latest offerings and promotions.

Sage may provide to others the aggregate statistics about Our Users' site activity for purposes of marketing, promotion or similar activities. None of these statistics will identify Users personally.

Sage may disclose Information about Our Users to others if We have a good faith belief that We are required or permitted to do so by law or legal process, to respond to claims, to protect Our rights, property or safety or others, or take action regarding illegal activities or suspected fraud.

In the event that Sage enters into a merger, acquisition or sale of all or a portion of its assets or business, We reserve the right to include customer information among the assets transferred to the acquiring company as part of or in connection with the transaction.

From time to time, Sage may share your Information with other organizations that provide products or services that We believe Users will find valuable and interesting. Sage uses third parties to help us offer, provide, repair and bill for services we deliver to you. We share information with those vendors to the extent necessary for them to perform work on our behalf. In our contracts with vendors, we require them to protect the privacy and security of Sage customer information we may provide to them and to limit their use of this Sage customer data to the purposes for which it was provided. They may not use this information for their own marketing purposes.

We may disclose information that individually identifies our customers in certain circumstances, such as:

  • To comply with valid legal process including subpoenas, court orders or search warrants, and as otherwise authorized by law;
  • In cases involving danger of death or serious physical injury to any person or other emergencies;
  • To protect our rights or property, or the safety of our customers or employees;
  • To protect against fraudulent, abusive, unauthorized or unlawful use of or subscription to our services and protect our network, services and users form such use;
  • To advance or defend against legal claims, in court and elsewhere;
  • To credit bureaus or collection agencies in order to obtain payment for Sage billed services;
  • To a third-party that you have authorized to verify your account information;
  • To outside auditors and regulators; or
  • With your consent.

Except as explained in this privacy policy or in agreements with our customers, Sage does not sell or share information that individually identifies our customers or website with others for non-Sage purposes without your consent.

Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI)

The term “Customer Proprietary Network Information” means information that relates to the quantity, technical configuration, type, destination, location, and amount of use of a telecommunications service subscribed to by any customer, and that is made available by the customer solely by virtue of the business relationship; and information contained in the bills pertaining to telephone service except that it does not include subscriber list information.

You may choose whether to allow Sage to share your CPNI for marketing categories of services other than those you currently have. This choice will remain in effect unless you change it. Sage customers who do not want their CPNI shared may send us a written request to privacypolicy@sagetelecom.net or to Sage Telecom, Inc., Attn: Regulatory Affairs, 3300 E. Renner Rd., Suite 350, Richardson, TX 75082-2800.

Telemarketing

Federal “Do-Not-Call” laws allow you to place residential phone numbers on the National Do Not Call Registry to prevent telemarketing calls to those numbers. If you would like to add your number to this list, you may do so by calling 1-888-382-1222, or by visiting www.donotcall.gov.

You should be aware that even if you add your number(s) to the federal or a state Do Not Call list, most telemarketing laws allow companies to contact their own customers. If at any time you would like to be removed from Sage’s residential telemarketing list, please let us know by contacting a Sage customer service representative at 888-449-4940. Please allow 30 days for your telephone number to be removed from our Telemarketing list.

Marketing E-mail and Postal Mail

You may opt out of receiving marketing-related postal mailing solicitations from Sage by calling a customer service representative at 888-449-4940, then press zero.

Web Site Cookies

You may opt out of the automatic collection of information by certain Web sites by deleting or disabling cookies on your computer or you may opt out of the automatic collection of information by third-party advertisers by visiting their opt out site.

Applicable Law/International Issues

Because We are committed to protecting your privacy, personal information that is submitted to this Site will be collected, processed, stored, disclosed and disposed of in accordance with applicable U.S. law. If you are a non-U.S. User, you acknowledge and agree that We may collect and use your personal data and disclose it to other entities, as discussed above in "Who We Share It With," outside your resident jurisdiction. In addition, such personal information may be stored on servers located outside your resident jurisdiction. U.S. law may not provide the degree of protection for personal information that is available in other countries. By providing Us with your personal information, you acknowledge that your have read this Privacy Policy, understand it, agree to its terms and consent to the transfer of such information outside your resident jurisdiction. If you do not consent to the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Site, but if you have already provided Us with personal information, please send Us a written request to privacypolicy@sagetelecom.net and let Us know how you would like Us to handle such information.

Information Provided to Us

The Tell-A-Friend option on Our website allows Us to send e-mails to your friends and family. By providing Us with your friend’s e-mail address, you are giving Us permission to send them information that We believe they will find valuable. We do not condone any illegal spamming. Spamming would include everything from providing Us with the e-mail addresses of strangers to entering e-mail addresses that are found on a mailing list.

If We find Users are not abiding by these rules or that fraud or spamming is being committed in one way or another through the use of the Tell-A-Friend service, then We, in Our sole discretion, may block Users from using the Site. We will not be liable for any damages that arise due to the use of the Tell-A-Friend program.

Special Notice for California Residents

California law permits Our Users who are California residents to request certain information regarding Our disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. To make such a request, please send an e-mail to privacypolicy@sagetelecom.net or write to Us at Sage Telecom, Inc., Attn: Regulatory Affairs, 3300 E. Renner Rd., Suite 350, Richardson, TX. 75082-2800.

We will provide a list of the categories of personal information disclosed to third parties for third-party direct marketing purposes, along with the names and addresses of these third parties. This request may be made no more than once per calendar year. We reserve Our right not to respond to requests submitted other than to the e-mail or postal address specified above. You should put "California Privacy Rights" in the subject line and in your request. You must provide us with specific information regarding yourself so that We can respond accurately to the request.

How to Access, Review and Update Your Information

Should your personal information need to be reviewed, updated, corrected or deleted, please submit your request to privacypolicy@sagetelecom.net or in writing to Sage Telecom, Inc., Attn: Regulatory Affairs, 3300 E. Renner Rd., Suite 350, Richardson, TX 75082-2800.

Opt Out Policy

You may request not to be contacted by Sage in connection with any new services, updates, programs or promotions. Such requests should be sent to privacypolicy@sagetelecom.net or in writing to Sage Telecom, Inc., Attn: Regulatory Affairs, 3300 E. Renner Rd., Suite 350, Richardson, TX 75082-2800.

Security

Sage has security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of information under Our control. However, Sage cannot guarantee that such security measures will be sufficient, will not be breached, and that your personal information may not be disclosed or otherwise accessed in an unauthorized manner. Certain information may be transmitted to you by electronic mail. Although it is illegal to intercept or disclose these messages under Federal law, these transmissions are not secured.

Sage has technical, administrative and physical safeguards in place to help protect against unauthorized access to, use or disclosure of customer information we maintain, including Social Security Numbers. Employees are trained on the importance of protecting privacy and on the proper access to, use and disclosure of customer information. Access to personally identifiable information is authorized only for those who have a business need for such access, and sensitive records are to be retained only as long as necessary for business or legal needs and destroyed before disposal.

Although we work hard to protect personal information that we collect and store, no program is 100 percent secure and we cannot guarantee that our safeguards will prevent every unauthorized attempt to access, use or disclose personal information. Recognizing this reality, Sage has incident response plans in place to handle incidents involving unauthorized access to personal information.

If you become aware of a security issue, please call Sage Customer Service at 888-449-4940. We will work with you to address any problems.

Online Policy Changes

This Privacy Policy may be modified. Any changes to the Privacy Policy will be posted on the Site. All information submitted through the Site is subject to the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy, as it may be amended from time to time.
